Chimney system for the Royal Air Force
(Washington, Tyne and Wear, 20. June 2017) RAF Lossiemouth is an important station within the RAF and has both Tornado and Typhoon squadrons based there in Moray in Scotland. The crews at the station are always at high states of readiness for 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, to monitor UK airspace and to intercept any unidentified aircraft.
Commercial installation
Prima Plus is a 316L stainless steel single wall flue system, with a thickness of 0.6mm. It’s designed to be used on gas and oil burning stoves and boilers with continuous operating temperatures up to 450°C and short firing up to 600°C.
Additionally, when you add a special gasket to the joint, Prima Plus can then be installed for fluing condensing gas and oil appliances with positive pressures up to 200Pa, continuous operating temperatures up to 160°C and short firing up to 200°C.
Each flue had to rise vertically then turn 45° and connect into a 250mm diameter common header.
It was one of many commercial projects undertaken in an efficient manner by the Schiedel team, working closely with Spie Matthew Hall to complete the task.
