(Schiedel UK, 29. April 2025) Wood burning stoves remain approved for installation in new homes under the government's updated future homes standard, which establishes guidelines for developers for the housing market.
The Government is in the process of establishing a new benchmark for the Future Homes Standard, which aims to guarantee that newly constructed homes are prepared for zero carbon emissions.
This means that no additional modifications will be necessary to achieve zero carbon usage as the electricity grid transitions to cleaner energy sources.
A comprehensive technical consultation regarding the Future Homes Standard commenced in December 2023 and concluded in March 2024.
According to the standards suggested in the consultation, the installation of a wood-burning stove would be allowed as secondary heating options in new residences.
