Challenge
Schiedel was tasked with providing a complex chimney and flue system to serve generators connected to a fire pump system.
The main challenge was the intricate nature of the ducts, which required a complex configuration. They had to be installed with long horizontal sections in an underground path that ran for several meters before the ducts emerged above ground in the green area in front of the building. This long, underground route also meant limited space for installation and maneuvering.
Solution
Schiedel supplied and installed ducts of the double-wall insulated overpressure systems ICS 5000 and HP 5000 as well as the single-wall system PRIMA PLUS for the connecting sections, with variable diameter sections of 500 / 350 / 300 and 130 mm. The passage and crossing of ducts at several locations required adequate fire compartmentalization and design. The installation was carried out with one of Schiedel's highly specialized installation teams, particularly experienced in working on large metropolitan construction sites as the reality of Milan requires.
