Andrew McIntyre on a factory visit with Adrian Wood, our Training and Technical Support Manager

Andrew McIntyre, founder of Backwoodsman, has a long- standing interest in ‘appropriate technology’ and in product design and innovation and exclusively uses Schiedel Chimney System products, as shown on their superb and informative website, http://www.backwoodsman-stoves.co.uk/

A significant part of their work is on ‘new-build’ and renovation projects with architects and developers, which is where the advantage of Schiedel’s range of products come in.

They have produced a number of amazing examples in stunning locations, including a renovation at St. Mary’s church, local to them, which was converted to a recording studio. The chimney system used was an ICID Plus with a Charnwood Cove 3 stove.

Embraced by the breathtaking natural environment and warm charm of the building, St Mary’s is a family run creative arts space and recording studio with accommodation in the Scottish West Highlands.

Conceived by composer Jamie Smith and his crafter wife Charlotte (who took the excellent photo shown above) as a living art work, the building and environs provide an inviting, inspirational and affordable work space and retreat for artists and musicians looking to escape their daily distractions and find the space to create. We’re delighted that Backwoodsman were involved in such a project and also exclusively use Schiedel products. From their range of testimonials, it’s obvious that their customers are delighted with their work and the reliability of the systems they use. Andrew McIntyre was a recent guest at Schiedel and enjoyed a factory visit and commented:

“It was an invaluable experience to see how it all happens in the Schiedel factory. The most impressive thing of all was the high morale and strong feeling of team that prevailed. Obviously a result of first class management.”

Thanks to Andrew for the wonderful comments, and keep up the amazing work!
