Reduced corrosion with ICID stainless steel flue system

Corrosion is inevitable in outdoor installations, but the speed of corrosion is critical. Schiedel’s ICID system has a lifetime guarantee which means we’re confident of it’s anti-corrosion properties in comparison with some systems which may have galvanised outer casings. ICID is formed from stainless steel which has excellent anti-corrosion properties.

ICS 5000 was the chosen flue for the generators at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital which was completed early last year.

The main requirement for this installation was that the external sections of the system chimney had to match in with building. To achieve this, the external lengths of the flue and support components were powder coated to match the colour of the building. Support locations and spacing were predetermined to make the dimensions of flue appear uniform along its entire length.

50 years of chimney, flue and fireplace solutions at Homebuilding and Renovating show

Schiedel Chimney Systems will be exhibiting at the Homebuilding and Renovating show, taking place from the 23rd to 26th March 2017, at the NEC in Birmingham. The market leading manufacturer of energy-efficient chimney systems, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, will be showcasing a range of sophisticated products, including Magnum Firechests and pumice liners, designed to ramp up the efficiency of open fires to between 41% to 45%, ideal for the sympathetic renovation of historic buildings.

In the future, all new homes will have to be built to certain levels of air tightness, and with stoves making a significant contribution to cutting fuel bills in these properties, it’s essential that efficiency is not compromised.
